Let me start by saying, I am NOT a doctor. No, I am NOT a research scientist. I am not even that smart. However, a little research shows that the way to prevent or slow down the onset of Alzheimer's disease is to get exercise, stay social, and to keep your brain active. I did find this study from doctors to back this up. You can read that article here: "Preventing & Treating Alzheimer's: Prevention, Treatment & Slowing Down the Progress". |

The controllers for the Nintendo Wii, are designed to detect your body's movement. When you hold the controller in your hand and swing your arm like you using a tennis racket, the Wii can process your motion and apply that motion to a character in the current game. So, if you are playing Wii Sports tennis, your character in the game will swing their tennis racket as you swing your arm. With this technology, you can get some GREAT exercise if you get off the couch or out of your favorite chair to play the games. There are many games that take advantage of this controller feedback system. Another one of interest to Seniors would be Wii Fit
. This is a fitness game to get you up and moving.
The Wii is fun to play be yourself but it is even more fun with friends or family. Show off to your friends and stomp them in the ground with your perfected controller moves to your favorite game. Your grandkids will think you are the coolest grandparent on the planet when you not only show them your Nintendo Wii but you will actually play with them. Can't you just see the smiles on their faces? Not to mention the stupefied faces on your children's faces.
How long has it been since you have taken a test? Well, you had better practice up so that when the grandkids want to challenge you to a game of Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree, you are ready for them. This mental exercise will help sharpen your mind and as the report states may help prevent or slow down the onset of Alzheimer's disease.
Now that you have seen just how much the "Nintendo Wii Game Console" can do for you, why not go ahead and buy one? There is only about three wires to be hooked up (the controller communication bar, the TV set connection, and the unit's power cord). Just add a few batteries to the controllers you buy. I would recommend having at least two controllers but four is much more fun as this allows four people to play at once. And let's face it, a Nintendo Wii plus the accessories and a few games is WAY cheaper than doctor's bills. So, make your family happy and keep yourself in shape and sharper minded by getting your Nintendo Wii today. Here is a link to our Nintendo Wii Stuff section.
