I did have another idea for you, Helen.

I was thinking that maybe walkie talkies would work. I am not talking about the kids toy but real walkie talkies. I have a set of Motorolas myself and really like them.

The part that made me think this might be a good solution for you is the call button on them. If you wish for the other person to pick up, all you have to do is press the call button and you can have a two way conversation.

Here is one possible candidate for you (sorry for the long link), just copy and paste it into your web browser address bar:

www.amazon.com/dp/B000P6J67C?tag=conagibab-20&camp=14573&creative=327641&linkCode=as1&creativeASIN=B000P6J67C&adid=1H853PVWN2FBABAVQ7CC&

This link will take you to Amazon (an online I use myself). Feel free to search around as they have more than just this one model and manufacturer all with various features that might help you.

Let us know if this helps.

Have you considered something like a baby monitor?

Our sister site might give you some idea of what is available. Here is the link for you to copy into your web browser address bar:

baby.concerningaging.com/affiliate_safety.html

Once you are on that page, click on the "Monitors" tab.

I hope that helps. I will keep thinking of other possible solutions as well. Please keep us informed of your progress.
